The Daughters of Divine Zeal is a congregation founded by St Hannibal Maria Di Francia in 1887 in Messina, Italy to share the Zeal of the Compassionate Heart of Jesus. They are sisters living together in community of prayer and together they cultivate both the spirit and the practice of prayer in response to the command of Jesus to pray for more Holy Vocations.
This helps them to live constantly in the presence of God, thus uniting the active with the contemplative life. Cultivating the spirit of prayer, the F.D.Z. make themselves ready to receive the Body and Word of God as their nourishment for their spiritual life.
The devotion to the Blessed Mother is a special characteristic of the Daughters of Divine Zeal. The Sisters take Mary as a perfect model in living fully their religious Consecration.
The Daughters of Divine Zeal are the concrete expression of the Zeal of the Heart of Jesus. They respond to His command, "Pray" (Rogate) which St Hannibal Di Francia, their founder, received from Jesus. It embraces all. They, like their founder St Hannibal, they become "holy laborers" by serving in various ways.
